Deus SlidetoberFest 25 - Day Two Video Recap - The Dress Up Drags Beach Race
The SlidetoberFest circus had packed up overnight and rolled twenty clicks north to Pasut Beach, where the black sand shimmered like a tarmac mirage. Here, under the banner of The Deus Dress-Up Beach Drags, chaos is an art form.
By mid-morning, our makeshift paddock looked like a fever dream of fancy dress; pirates, furries, McClowns, schoolgirls, a giraffe with an umbrella, a commando with a helicopter helmet. Every flavour of unreason had RSVP’d. The soundtrack thumped, the coffee steamed, and the beers slumbered in their icy bath, siren song, calling our names.
When the tide dropped, we got serious, or at least our version of it. The first flag dropped just after ten, and for the next few hours, the beach was a blur of sand, sound, and questionable judgment. The costumes might’ve been ridiculous, but the competition was pure throttle and grin. Heat after heat, until the day bled into gold light and we had our winners.
Call it absurd, call it inspired, whatever it was, it was one hell of a day.
